trotski2000: do you know this change address created by fundrawtransaction is a deterministic one, meaning I would have access to it after a restored backup?
BloodSkin 2017-01-12 04:53:25
idk where to go from here
BloodSkin 2017-01-12 04:54:02
coinpayments.net is refusing to send the funds to the merchant, even though they acknowledge that they received the funds
wickerman 2017-01-12 04:54:07
trotski2000: or is it just randomly created
BloodSkin 2017-01-12 04:54:08
and they wont send them back to me
BloodSkin 2017-01-12 04:54:36
they are saying yea we got the funds but were not giving them to the merchant or back to you
trotski2000 2017-01-12 04:54:47
wickerman: just make sure you are using an HD wallet (generated on 0.13 and above). Then its deterministic
wickerman 2017-01-12 05:04:27
trotski2000: I just realized that if you use fundrawtransaction on the offline instante there is no way the private key of the address generated by it will be online
wickerman 2017-01-12 05:05:47
*instance
BloodSkin 2017-01-12 05:05:48
and now they are saying they sent the funds to the merchant, even though the merchant is showing me screenshots of coinpayments.net saying "Funds received and confirmed, sending to you shortly..."
wickerman 2017-01-12 05:06:33
trotski2000: I mean the change address generated by it
BloodSkin 2017-01-12 05:06:37
lesson from this: dont use coinpayments.net
BloodSkin 2017-01-12 05:07:12
pretty asd when fiat is a more appealing form of payment :/
BloodSkin 2017-01-12 05:07:15
sad*
BloodSkin 2017-01-12 05:07:33
not because of the coin, but because of the assholes at the middle man
mna 2017-01-12 05:08:51
where is my bitcoin address?
mna 2017-01-12 05:09:35
i use bitcoin core.
sturles 2017-01-12 05:10:11
Use "Receive bitcoins" or similar.
trotski2000 2017-01-12 05:10:17
wickerman: I'm not sure using fundrawtransaction on the offline instance is a good idea. For one, fees are calculated dynamically depending on network state, and the offline instance is unaware of the network. Just import a bunch of pubkeys from offline to online and use as change address an unused "watch-only" address you imported on beforehand.
sturles 2017-01-12 05:10:39
mna: Or bitcoin-cli getnewaddress if using the command line.
mna 2017-01-12 05:13:32
how to add fund in my bitcoin core?
Pilate 2017-01-12 05:13:51
get receiving address and send coins to it
sturles 2017-01-12 05:15:08
I wish it was like in August 2010 when I discovered bitcoin: Set generate on and wait a few hours. :-)
Michail1 2017-01-12 05:15:47

wickerman 2017-01-12 05:17:17
trotski2000: and if I myself calculare a fee, could my transiction not be validated?
trotski2000 2017-01-12 05:17:29
Xanather: Bitcoin performed "just a little better" than Apple stock :P
BloodSkin 2017-01-12 05:17:50
i hope the dude that runs coinpayments.net gets his ass beat
BloodSkin 2017-01-12 05:17:58
fucking thief
BloodSkin 2017-01-12 05:19:18
now that ive given them all kinds of proof, they stopped responding
trotski2000 2017-01-12 05:19:28
wickerman: Core will not allow you to send a crazy high fee, so you will not make ruinous mistakes - that's good. You might set a fee that is too small and broadcast a transaction that takes a lot to confirm. Fundrawtransaction might save you that hassle if you set up the recommended fee for a very fast confirmation time.
Xanather 2017-01-12 05:21:34
trotski2000, fine then I wish I know tomorrows lotto numbers
BloodSkin 2017-01-12 05:28:10

BloodSkin 2017-01-12 05:38:22
wrong chan
nkuttler 2017-01-12 05:40:10
wickerman: sure
Chillum 2017-01-12 05:40:24
wickerman: it can be done, and if you want to protect your privacy a good idea
Michail1 2017-01-12 05:40:29
anything to add privacy is great.
Chillum 2017-01-12 05:40:48
TAILS is a live CD that puts everything through TOR and also has a bitcoin client ready
Chillum 2017-01-12 05:41:03
handy if you don't want to worry about forgetting something
nkuttler 2017-01-12 05:41:10
electrum.. which is not great for privacy
Chillum 2017-01-12 05:41:30
well one assumed you keep the wallet segregated from your identity
Chillum 2017-01-12 05:41:50
if you are mixing keys from anonymous and not anonymous wallets you ahve already lost, electrum or not
wickerman 2017-01-12 05:41:51
I asked becaure localbitcoins warn users about tor "evil nodes" that kind of intercept transations and there are a lot of reported stolen coins
Chillum 2017-01-12 05:41:56
eventually you will spend from both sets
Chillum 2017-01-12 05:43:04
an exit node cannot steal your transaction because you only publish a signed transaction not the key material, the worst they could do is reject it
nkuttler 2017-01-12 05:43:14
wickerman: um, what? "evil" nodes can be on any networ..
Chillum 2017-01-12 05:43:48
but you do need to assume anything send plaintext over an exit node may be read
s17 2017-01-12 05:44:44
it can be read, but not stolen
s17 2017-01-12 05:44:55
unless some other problem exists between
