Hi
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:45:28
Im very new to trading
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:45:58
Are buy orders and sell orders instant on trading platforms?
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:46:20
Or do I wait for someone to buy from me
haakonn 2017-01-17 10:46:24
Alexander-47u: they can be, and that's called a market order
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:46:41
Like at bitfinex
haakonn 2017-01-17 10:46:41
if you want to set your own price and wait for something to take it, that's called a limit order
haakonn 2017-01-17 10:46:50
for someone to take it*
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:47:18
Hmm
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:47:28
So I can choose?
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:48:44
And can I also do market sell orders?
haakonn 2017-01-17 10:48:50
yes
czheo 2017-01-17 10:49:17
Are there any bitcoin/blockchain companies in the bay area to work for?
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:49:23
Thank you sir
haakonn 2017-01-17 10:49:26
check the order book (how many coins are for sale at the various prices) before doing market orders though, you don't have total control over what you pay
haakonn 2017-01-17 10:50:32
Alexander-47u: and take the time to read the docs etc, don't lose money straight away ;) http://www.babypips.com/school is a nice start

I just bought 1k euro in btc and will start slowly. If I see success, il do more.
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:52:15
Haakonn thank you this is great advice
haakonn 2017-01-17 10:52:29
that's cool. also don't just keep your bitcoins on the exchange forever - bitfinex has lost people's money once before
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:52:32
Il see if I can find a good ebook as well on trading in general
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:52:57
Will do, Im only using money that I can afford losing.
haakonn 2017-01-17 10:53:08
goodie
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:53:39
Im am an IT student with lots of time
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:54:13
So reading up shouldnt be a problem
haakonn 2017-01-17 10:54:22

Lesson 1 of Bitcoin trading
Lauda 2017-01-17 10:55:49
All predictions are wrong.
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:58:04
LOL the video.
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:58:49
Ive been reading cryptocurrency news for about a year now daily
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 10:59:32
And ive noticed certain spikes and lows after reading certain articles
Lauda 2017-01-17 11:01:28
That's normal.
Lauda 2017-01-17 11:01:34
Events and news affect every market
Lauda 2017-01-17 11:02:08
That video recommends cryptsy in 2015. Enough has been said.

Thats what caught my interest
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 11:05:28
Telling myself what if, what if. Every time a sure thing causes a spike.
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 11:06:02
I remember when I saw btc when it was 50 euro.
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 11:06:38
Saw it in a youtube video and thought it was hype
haakonn 2017-01-17 11:06:39
back then, all sorts of silly news coverage had a noticable impact. now, it's less clear
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 11:06:45
Sadly mistaken.
haakonn 2017-01-17 11:07:23
most people's first meeting with bitcoin is remembered as a tragedy :) it takes time to "get" it
Lauda 2017-01-17 11:07:50
Please don't remind us of our personal tragedies.
Lauda 2017-01-17 11:08:03
If you've seen BTC under $1, you don't want to think back anymore. ;)
haakonn 2017-01-17 11:08:39
i read about bitcoin in early 2010. thought it was the silliest thing. maybe it worked technically, but why would it ever have any value? took me a year to come back
Alexander-47u 2017-01-17 11:09:05
Memories of 1$ makes you really want to bang your head to the wall right now
rapscal 2017-01-17 11:19:44
Could someone give me a few keywords to google regarding what could kill bitcoin? I know about the transaction speed issue, but what else?
fireduck 2017-01-17 11:22:12
rapscal: Anything that kills all humans, like a few cubic meters of tungston at relivistic speeds hitting the earth
