Morph 2017-01-16 13:48:14
hello
Morph 2017-01-16 13:52:40
Can someone help me with the apt-cache search bitcoin command?
teward 2017-01-16 13:55:59
Morph: bitcoin isn't in the Ubuntu or Debian repos
teward 2017-01-16 13:56:03
it was removed because it's too volatile
teward 2017-01-16 13:56:16
if you want to get it in Ubuntu there's a PPA you can use, or you can compile Bitcoin Core from source.
teward 2017-01-16 13:56:24
(the python bitcoin library is included in the removed packages)
Morph 2017-01-16 13:57:14
And where do I find and install trisquel?
teward 2017-01-16 13:58:06
what's trisquel?
Morph 2017-01-16 13:59:54
how will I do this? Does that mean apt-cache search bitcoin was it?
teward 2017-01-16 14:00:20
Morph: what is 'trisquel'? I've never heard of that.
Morph 2017-01-16 14:00:38
Trisquel free software operating system
Morph 2017-01-16 14:01:28
= zorin
Morph 2017-01-16 14:01:34
= linux mint
teward 2017-01-16 14:02:03
ah
Morph 2017-01-16 14:02:26
hehe
teward 2017-01-16 14:02:27
Morph: Linux Mint has the samie package removal. You can *try* the PPA for Ubuntu on Mint, or you can compile Bitcoin Core from source, or use one of the lighter wallet clients
grubles 2017-01-16 14:03:50
teward, too volatile?
Morph 2017-01-16 14:10:40
What is PPA?
yoo 2017-01-16 14:12:20
hello
Morph 2017-01-16 14:12:25
And how to compile Bitcoin Core from the source, or use one of the portfolio portfolio lighter?
Morph 2017-01-16 14:12:37
hello yoo
yoo 2017-01-16 14:14:10
Can you tell me if would be safe for me to keep my savngs in bitcoin..3^1?
yoo 2017-01-16 14:14:25
I am about to do.this...
stoner19 2017-01-16 14:15:38
if you protect yourself, keep your wallet and keys secure, yes, its probably pretty safe, but that doesn't mean that BTC value won't crash and then your savings will be worthless.
yoo 2017-01-16 14:16:11
hmm
yoo 2017-01-16 14:16:25
I understand , thanks
stoner19 2017-01-16 14:17:17
then again the value of BTC could go up 100x
stoner19 2017-01-16 14:17:18
not really a decision that anyone else can make for you
Morph 2017-01-16 14:17:39
Last week fell 334 dollars
yoo 2017-01-16 14:17:54
hmm...
stoner19 2017-01-16 14:18:16
Morph isn't wrong
stoner19 2017-01-16 14:18:20
but that was after it went up
yoo 2017-01-16 14:18:53
I would like to keep.my savings in an alternative place than banks, i dont like them...
teward 2017-01-16 14:20:06
grubles: keeps changing, old versions can't be used with newer after some time, etc.
Morph 2017-01-16 14:20:17
Yes, practically 100%, and there the value fell again, more this higher than a month ago
grubles 2017-01-16 14:20:28
teward, ah i see
teward 2017-01-16 14:20:40
grubles: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bitcoin/+bug/1260602 and https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-release/2013-December/002675.html are relevant there
teward 2017-01-16 14:20:46
been out of the Ubuntu repos since 2013 I think
teward 2017-01-16 14:20:49
though it may still be in Debian
teward 2017-01-16 14:20:55
i think they were going to remove it at one point
teward 2017-01-16 14:20:56
but didn't
yoo 2017-01-16 14:21:43
thanks for your time
Morph 2017-01-16 14:22:41
And what would this repository be?
Morph 2017-01-16 14:24:54
$ remove-package bitcoin -m "Package is only in Debian unstable and not releasable; LP: #1260602"
Morph 2017-01-16 14:24:55

stoner19 2017-01-16 14:26:29
grubles are you just trying to install bitcoin on ubuntu>
stoner19 2017-01-16 14:26:30
?
voldz1tic3n 2017-01-16 14:26:36
i hate bitcoins.
stoner19 2017-01-16 14:27:17
voldz1tic3n I'll take them off your hands if you don't want them anymore
teward 2017-01-16 14:28:15
Morph: i already told you. That package was removed from Ubuntu Trusty and blacklisted - it's not available in Trusty or later
Morph 2017-01-16 14:30:53
So does that mean you can not get bitcoins anymore?
grubles 2017-01-16 14:31:17
stoner19, no i've built my own through gentoo's portage
stoner19 2017-01-16 14:31:27
ah
teward 2017-01-16 14:32:22
Morph: no, you can compile Bitcoin Core from source, or use a lighter wallet like Electrum or something.
teward 2017-01-16 14:32:44
if you don't want to compile Bitcoin Core from source, and don't intend to do mining or anything, a lighter wallet client may be what you're looking for
stoner19 2017-01-16 14:33:17
pretty sure you can add bitcoin ppa
stoner19 2017-01-16 14:33:17
add-apt-repository ppa:bitcoin/bitcoin
stoner19 2017-01-16 14:33:22

Morph 2017-01-16 14:37:33
teward|So how does mining work?
Morph 2017-01-16 14:38:13
How is the process?
Morph 2017-01-16 14:42:17
How do i compile bitcoin from the source?
deusopus 2017-01-16 14:42:35
qmake?
mryandao 2017-01-16 14:44:05
gnu autotools should take care of it all
deusopus 2017-01-16 14:44:13
mining is running a chip or set of chips designed specifically to hash transactions along the bitcoin network. for the processor power you get a percentage of the reward for completing a transaction block
Morph 2017-01-16 14:44:30
So I have Electrum
Morph 2017-01-16 14:44:30
Bitcoin Wallet
