arubi 2017-01-12 22:45:28
so elichai2 what I figured is that you have a ready to broadcast tx saved, and in case someone does a spend that you don't like, you broadcast your saved tx that pays to some trap door?
arubi 2017-01-12 22:45:48
if that's not it, can you explain what you're doing please?
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:46:07
arubi, i'm testing a product for some company
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:46:18
an anti double-spending product
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:46:23
insurance
arubi 2017-01-12 22:46:28
right, is that ^ the product?
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:47:05
yeah, I can send you their name in PM if you're really interested
arubi 2017-01-12 22:47:32
sure, that'd be cool
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:48:13
its probabilistic at best I'm guessing
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:48:32
if its absolutely going to work, might as well get rid of the blockchain
arubi 2017-01-12 22:48:40
true
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:49:32
and to improve the odds of the insurer, the insurer would have to mount a serious surveillence network on the network
arubi 2017-01-12 22:50:03
that's the thing, for it to have any chance of working you'd have to already be connected to most nodes
arubi 2017-01-12 22:50:26
you have to hear about the spend, then asap broadcast the double spend
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:50:33
exactly
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:50:52
infact, it would also encourage backdoor dealings with miners
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:51:00
to prioritise transactions i think in the long run
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:51:12
so insurance transactions get an edge over normal transactions
arubi 2017-01-12 22:51:37
before I knew about lightning I also thought about these financial direct channels to miners
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:51:44
a very unfair playing field in general
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:51:54
driven by profit
arubi 2017-01-12 22:51:57
but really when LN gets deployed, this whole insurance thing is going to take care of itself
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:52:01
arubi, that's not right, you ever tried to double spend?
arubi 2017-01-12 22:52:13
elichai2, yep, just a few days ago, successfully
arubi 2017-01-12 22:52:22
the original was too low fee
root____2 2017-01-12 22:52:29
set alternate_nick = Protoc0L
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:52:30
ok, that's one way
arubi 2017-01-12 22:52:34
(shamefully forgot to RBF)
root____2 2017-01-12 22:52:51
Testing
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:52:58
there are tons of way to double spend, 1. original low fee. 2. RBF. 3. original with OP_RETURN
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:53:02
there are already direct financial channels
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:53:03
and lots of other stuff
root____2 2017-01-12 22:53:05
exit
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:53:06
we test all of it
arubi 2017-01-12 22:53:13
elichai2, CPFP too
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:53:14
BTCC lets you re-prioritise your transactions
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:53:16
by paying a fee
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:53:26
and there was some other pool, ViaBTC?
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:53:31
arubi, yes
arubi 2017-01-12 22:53:34
well, if you double spend the parent + a nice paying child
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:53:43
that's exactly what I'm testing right now :)
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:53:47
we implemented that too
arubi 2017-01-12 22:53:53
nice
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:54:15
and we have statistics for the chances of succeeding a double spend on a particular transaction
arubi 2017-01-12 22:54:30
publishing?
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:54:54
no, with the statistics we know how much to charge
root____2 2017-01-12 22:54:59
z
arubi 2017-01-12 22:55:01
mryandao, yea I think viabtc has that "send tx" page
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:55:05
(for insuring the transaction)
arubi 2017-01-12 22:55:19
elichai2, fair enough
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:55:21
elichai2: its ok, your methodologies are being published
arubi 2017-01-12 22:55:47
again, if it's all currently done on a test network, the numbers are still theoretical
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:55:48
mryandao, i haven't said even the little tip of our methodology :)
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:55:59
arubi, for now
arubi 2017-01-12 22:56:10
right, mainnet is pretty conservative
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:56:18
^
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:56:23
testnet stats simply wont cut it
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:56:35
mryandao, don't worry
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:57:19
I need to reboot my laptop, bye
root____2 2017-01-12 22:57:36
How do i leave this room?
root____2 2017-01-12 22:57:44
I'm new to IRC...
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:57:46
/q
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:57:47
./wc
root____2 2017-01-12 22:58:15
./wc
elichai2 2017-01-12 22:58:27
ops, that's only on my client lol
arubi 2017-01-12 22:58:27
/quit
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:59:02
elichai2: you should publish
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:59:08
for peer-review
mryandao 2017-01-12 22:59:32
it'd be an interesting read for everyone :/
arubi 2017-01-12 22:59:35
I'd read it
mryandao 2017-01-12 23:01:24
arubi: you've implemented a mixing service yes?
Protoc0L_S4 2017-01-12 23:03:08
Nice
arubi 2017-01-12 23:15:57
mryandao, not me
cjamthagen 2017-01-12 23:25:18
Will locktime for a transaction be disabled if any sequence field in the transaction is set to maxInt, or is it enough that the high bit of any sequence bit is set?
