#bitcoin: Beware of scams! Scammers are sending users private messages with bitcoin-stealing malware and offers to trade. We are unable to stop them, so you must protect yourself. NEVER download or run programs from strangers! When in doubt, ask the ops.
Xanather 2017-01-09 23:56:50
segwit doesn't look like its happening
sturles 2017-01-09 23:57:52
Yes, it is. Just hang on. It is still way to early to activate.
Xanather 2017-01-10 00:00:25
too early? soon it'll be 2 months since segwit signalling start
Xanather 2017-01-10 00:01:21
in the last month its gone up less than 2%
JackH 2017-01-10 00:07:43
No its not going to happen stop day dreaming
JackH 2017-01-10 00:07:59
We have been at this for a long time now, and there is absolutely no indication of segwit activating
Xanather 2017-01-10 00:09:03
so a year of wasted development?
nkuttler 2017-01-10 00:09:04
ah yes, people with no idea about previous feature activations talking about segwit activation..
nkuttler 2017-01-10 00:09:14
always the same
JackH 2017-01-10 00:09:33
umm I was here when op_csv and op_cltv got activated and those went quick
Xanather 2017-01-10 00:09:37
nkuttler, whats that supposed to mean
JackH 2017-01-10 00:09:42
heck you can go to sipas website and see the differencec
JackH 2017-01-10 00:11:17
actually since 2011 when I first discovered Bitcoin, no other feature has ever moved this slow or had this much resistance. Politics are taking over and people for whatever reason are blocking development
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:13:43
Can we drop this annoying talk already?
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:13:52
Either it happens: Good; It doesn't happen: immutability.
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:13:53
Done.
Xanather 2017-01-10 00:14:13
Lauda, why is it annoying
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:14:26
Because every week someone brings up the same annoying story
JackH 2017-01-10 00:14:32
Have you ever considered some of us find it unacceptable to stagnate? And would then rather do what we can to push it through?
Xanather 2017-01-10 00:14:36
Lauda, wonder why
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:16:27
Those 'us' doesn't seem like the matter.
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:16:34
The market doesn't care.
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:16:46
don't* uh
JackH 2017-01-10 00:17:19
nobody has a crystal ball, and the ecosystem might as well get fed up sufficiently to start doing stupid things like hard forking
JackH 2017-01-10 00:17:30
in a sense, it is deserved to those that set an insane bar of 95%
Xanather 2017-01-10 00:17:32
Lauda, they might care if fees reach 50c and adoption is forced to stop
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:17:42
Fees at 50c is also fine.
JackH 2017-01-10 00:18:02
yeah but 350k tx's/day is not
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:18:13
Pretty fine to me.
JackH 2017-01-10 00:18:16
regardless if its 10$ per transaction or 1c
JackH 2017-01-10 00:18:35
yeah that is because you think stagnation and lack of mass adoption is acceptable
wickerman 2017-01-10 00:18:42
is it really unsafe to buy in localbitcoins under TOR?
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:19:06
I'm fine either way.
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:19:24
I came here for decentralization and immutability, not 'let everyone buy coffee' and centralization nonsense.
atroxes 2017-01-10 00:19:47
Whether a 50c fee is cheap or not, depends on the use case IMO. Paying $0.50 to store data *forever* is cheap. Paying $0.50 to transfer $10 in value is not.
JackH 2017-01-10 00:19:50
I dont care about buying coffee on-chain either, which is why I would love to see layer2 finally getting activated

Lauda 2017-01-10 00:20:24
False image.
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:20:28
Doesn't represent anything.
Xanather 2017-01-10 00:21:15
Lauda, represents the flames of stagnation
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:21:19
Nope.
JackH 2017-01-10 00:21:32
It should be a skeleton that would represent things much better
JackH 2017-01-10 00:21:34
and no fire
JackH 2017-01-10 00:21:46
just a skeleton, sitting there, 50 years later, still saying things are fine
Xanather 2017-01-10 00:21:48
Lauda, someone wants their billion bitcoins back if you think immutability is that important
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:22:04
False equivalency. That was a software bug, not a bail-out.
Xanather 2017-01-10 00:22:16
Hell if there was a network breaking bug found tomorrow im sure you'll want it activated
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:22:18
ETH and their delusional followers.
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:23:36
We've had clear examples which you could compare with the bail-out situation that occured in "Fed 2.0 coin". Bitcoin is not going in that direction. If it did, the value it has would plummet.
Xanather 2017-01-10 00:24:26
Lauda, I wasnt talking about ETH
Lauda 2017-01-10 00:24:59
and you wonder why you were banned from here.
Xanather 2017-01-10 00:25:01
different senario all together, im talking about protocol changes that can increase the capacity of the bitcoin network (whether or not that increases the block size)
JackH 2017-01-10 00:26:24
dont worry Lauda will be here in 12 years as well, saying everything is fine and that we dont need to do anything
Xanather 2017-01-10 00:28:02
Lauda, I wonder why I was "banned" too
sturles 2017-01-10 00:31:46
Xanather: We shouldn't enable segwit unthil a large majority of nodes support it. And 2 months is a short time. I don't think any soft fork was activated in just 2 months.
