Hi. I have a Titanium Backup of Mycelium, and I'm trying to extract the private key from the walletbacking.db file.

Is there a standard process for converting the raw master seed to a 12 word passphrase I can use to restore my account?
arubi 2017-01-15 07:58:54
orion, the master key is a product of some hash function that already digested the seed
orion 2017-01-15 07:59:36
Ok, so is there a way for me to convert whatever information is in the walletbackup.db file to a 12 word backup passphrase?
arubi 2017-01-15 07:59:39
unless the wallet.db holds the seed and/not the master key, you'll have to extract the master key itself and keep it in xprv form
arubi 2017-01-15 07:59:59
orion, no, if the seed isn't there, you can't go back to the 12 words

do any of you invest in any altcoin? which ones and why?
norotartagen 2017-01-15 08:04:19
i don't have any altcoin
norotartagen 2017-01-15 08:05:01
the success of bitcoin vs altcoins depends on factors that i don't know enough about to make a good decision
norotartagen 2017-01-15 08:05:25
like, how the coins are initially distributed
norotartagen 2017-01-15 08:06:08
gold, for instance, is found in the ground and then traded, which is not a bad strategy

someone linked a neat writeup not too long ago: http://woobull.com/crypto-currency-index-funds-the-simulations-have-surprising-results/

arubi: very interesting.
arubi 2017-01-15 08:10:08
quem, that's all I'm going to say about it :), relevant discussion happens in #bitcoin-pricetalk, but altcoins are pretty much off topic since they're usually uninteresting
