Maybe you could use zero knowledge proofs to hide the original transaction
abpa 2017-01-09 13:32:22
Just prove that the merkle root did exist and not which transaction it was
abpa 2017-01-09 13:33:34
That solves it for the miner side but not for the aggregator side
DuckOnPancake 2017-01-09 13:34:36
gmaxwell - Veriphant offers the ability to sign too
Iriez 2017-01-09 13:34:48
Thanks greg and abpa, good learning today.
Iriez 2017-01-09 13:34:57
I'll keep fighting the good fight for ya.
gmaxwell 2017-01-09 13:34:57
Iriez: thanks to you too!
DuckOnPancake 2017-01-09 13:35:08
If you just sign what is entered
gmaxwell 2017-01-09 13:38:04
DuckOnPancake: no no, so opentransactions basically allows multiple kinds of certification, so you submit your stuff to a server and it instantly timestamps it and signs it, then gives you a reciept back.. then it puts the transaction in a hashtree and later commits the root of that to the chain.. and you can later go and pick up the full proof.
gmaxwell 2017-01-09 13:38:04
so you get a very high resolution third party timestamp, though it's only ceritified by the server at that point.
DuckOnPancake 2017-01-09 13:41:33
that is neat
DuckOnPancake 2017-01-09 13:42:27
is that not more of a concept than a thing
DuckOnPancake 2017-01-09 13:43:20
if i have lots of data do i have to get it to the server? if i use a hash function on my file then send that- does thjat work?
gmaxwell 2017-01-09 13:43:22
there is a complete implementation and multiple servers running it AFAIK.
gmaxwell 2017-01-09 13:43:29
DuckOnPancake: you can do that.
DuckOnPancake 2017-01-09 13:44:01
so the receipt says that the server knows about it and has recorded it?
DuckOnPancake 2017-01-09 13:44:44
im trying to work out what is new or is this just a concept
gmaxwell 2017-01-09 13:44:47
right and gives you a timestamp with high resolution (compared to the potentially hours resolution of the chain), but lower security.
DuckOnPancake 2017-01-09 13:47:58
the way it commits to the root is the clever bit?
DuckOnPancake 2017-01-09 13:52:35
gmaxwell how does it differ
mryandao 2017-01-09 13:56:20
what does timestamp with high resolution mean?
DuckOnPancake 2017-01-09 13:58:02
calling gmaxwell :)
DuckOnPancake 2017-01-09 14:03:39
theres a lot of "Known Issues" in opentime stamps
